What this is
The Surrey Roofline is a small editorial site about roofs in Leatherhead and the surrounding Mole Valley. We started it because most roofing information online is either national and vague or written to sell something. Neither tells you much about the house you actually live in.
We write from this area, about this area.
What we cover
The guides are organised by place and by the kind of building you find there. A few examples:
- Period cottages on the AONB edge around Bookham
- Townhouses and terraces in Epsom, and how their roofs differ
- Large detached roofs near Cobham, where scale changes the job
- What roofs on the Mole Valley floor in Fetcham have to contend with
- How a pitched roof is put together, layer by layer
How it's written
We keep things concrete. Where a roof type is common in one town and rare in the next, we say so and explain why. We try not to pad, and we'd rather leave a question open than answer it loosely.
Claire writes most of it. If something here is wrong or out of date, we'd genuinely like to know.

About the area
Leatherhead, in Surrey, has plenty of history of its own. For background on the town itself, its Wikipedia page is a good place to start.
